KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) has plans to stay over in Belgium before the national team trains for the London Olympic Games this August.
MNCF deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad said they are currently looking for a suitable location to set up training camp before leaving for London.
"National cyclists who have qualified themselves to London will stay at the camp for six weeks and during that time they will take part in several championships," he told Bernama here today.
Naim said they chose Belgium because of its close proximity to London as well as its ability to help athletes adapt to the weather in Europe.
"We also find that many cyclists who qualified themselves for the Olympics will make this country (Belgium) their base before the championship, in addition to the narrow time difference between Belgium and London," he said.
