Beban Pandelela pada Sukan Olimpik

KUALA LUMPUR - Ratu terjun negara, Pandelela Rinong bakal membuat penampilan kedua di Olimpik London, Julai ini dengan penuh dugaan apabila dia diberi kepercayaan untuk beraksi dalam tiga acara.

Tiada penerjun pernah turun dalam tiga acara sekali gus pada sesuatu temasya Olimpik dan Pandelela, 19, yang dinobatkan sebagai Olahragawati Kebangsaan baru-baru ini akan membuktikan kepada dunia bahawa dia mampu melakukannya.

Selain dua acara platform (individu dan seirama bersama Leong Mun Yee), Pandelela turut bergandingan dengan Cheong Jun Hoong untuk disiplin 3m papan anjal seirama.

Ketua jurulatih skuad kebangsaan, Yang Zhuliang melahirkan keyakinan terhadap keupayaan Pandelela, biarpun pada awalnya teragak-agak sama ada anak didiknya itu mampu menanggung bebanan berat itu atau tidak.

"Setahu saya tiada penerjun pernah terlibat dalam tiga acara untuk satu Olimpik. Tidak seperti negara lain, Malaysia tiada punyai banyak pilihan kerana tidak ada siapa lagi berkebolehan sepertinya.

"Saya yakin Lela bukan sahaja berpeluang mencapai keputusan memberangsangkan dalam kedua-dua acara platform kegemarannya, malah dia berpotensi mencipta kejutan bersama Jun Hoong dalam 3m papan anjal.
"Mereka berdua meraih tiket ke Olimpik dengan menduduki tempat keenam Piala Dunia, Februari lalu. Bayangkan, ketika itu mereka baru sahaja digandingkan bersama dan beraksi pada pentas tertinggi dunia buat kali pertama.

"Selagi mampu mempamerkan aksi terbaik, harapan merangkul pingat memang ada kerana hanya lapan pasangan terus berentap dalam final, tiga daripadanya menaiki podium, semudah itu," kata Zhuliang.
Menurut Zhuliang, jadual pertandingan yang menyebelahi Pandelela juga diambil kira sebelum membuat keputusan menurunkan pemenang emas Sukan Komanwel 2010 itu dalam tiga acara.

Sukan terjun membuka tirai di Pusat Akuatik London pada 29 Julai dan berakhir 11 Ogos, dengan gandingan Pandelela-Jun Hoong akan menjadi kumpulan penerjun negara sulung turun pada hari pembukaan.
Pandelela mempunyai dua hari untuk berehat sebelum kembali untuk 10m plaform bersama Mun Yee.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
