KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) -- Following last year's success, the
Kuala Lumpur Lawn Tennis Association (KLLTA) will be hosting its second
Scomi KL Open Tennis Championship from June 6 to 10 with an increased
prize money.
The five-day competition which is expected to attract 300 participants, will be held at two venues, namely the National Tennis Centre in Jalan Duta and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Sports Complex in Titiwangsa.
KLLTA vice president Mirzan Tun Mahathir said in order to attract more participants for this year's championship, KLLTA had increased the total prize money from RM28,000 to RM40,000.
"Besides increasing the prize money, KLLTA has also commissioned a new trophy to reflect the prestige of the KL Open. The name of the men's singles winner will be engraved on the trophy," said Mirzan, who is also the co-organising chairman at the National Tennis Centre, here Tuesday.
