‘Peluang emas tetap ada’

KETIKA ramai meragui kemampuan Datuk Lee Chong Wei untuk meraih kilauan emas pertama pada Sukan Olimpik London selepas mengalami kecederaan buku lali kanan di pusingan akhir Piala Thomas di Wuhan, China, baru-baru ini, Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) tetap mengharapkan keajaiban dilakar jaguh nombor satu dunia itu pada temasya yang akan membuka tirainya 27 Julai depan.

“Ramai yang bertanya kepada saya mengenai kemampuan Chong Wei untuk meraih pingat emas. Memang benar ketika ini dia seolah tiada sebarang kelebihan untuk menghadirkan emas.

“Tapi perlu diingat, keajaiban biasanya berlaku apabila kita berada pada situasi yang tidak memihak kepada kita.
“Saya percaya ia juga akan dilalui oleh Datuk Lee Chong Wei kerana dia adalah seorang pejuang. Diharap saat sukar yang dilaluinya ketika ini akan menjadi pencetus semangat kepadanya untuk mencipta keajaiban pada Sukan Olimpik nanti.

“Ditambah dengan sokongan 28 juta penduduk Malaysia, ia diharap menambahkan lagi motivasi Chong Wei di London nanti,” kata Pengarah Bahagian Pembangunan Organisasi MSN, Suhardi Alias.

Beliau ditemui pada majlis Telekom Malaysia (TM) berkongsi semangat ‘Team Malaysia’ dengan pasukan harapan negara di Olimpik, semalam. Chong Wei mungkin mampu sembuh sepenuhnya sebelum bermulanya temasya sukan terbesar dunia itu, namun Ketua Eksekutif Institusi Sukan Negara (ISN), Datuk Dr Ramlan Abdul Aziz sebelum ini pernah berkata, sukar untuk meramalkan adakah pemain itu mampu berada pada prestasi terbaik apabila beraksi di Sukan Olimpik nanti. Sementara itu, Ketua Pegawai Pemasaran TM, Datuk Rozalila Abdul Rahman, berkata bagi menghangatkan lagi kempen menyokong atlet negara pada temasya Sukan Olimpik nanti, pihaknya akan mengadakan beberapa program, antaranya Team Malaysia Fan Run yang akan diadakan di Dataran Merdeka pada 17 Jun depan.


“Ia adalah acara sehari yang dianjurkan TM sebagai simbolik menggambarkan perpaduan dan sokongan buat atlet yang mengambil bahagian.

“Kami juga akan menganjurkan peraduan Team Malaysia Super Fan. Empat peserta yang menerima markah tertinggi akan memenangi hadiah utama percutian sepenuhnya ke London dan merasai sendiri kehangatan temasya Sukan Olimpik,” katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
