SHAH ALAM, July 17 (Bernama) -- After suffering three defeats in a row,
Selangor hope to wrest the Sultan Selangor Cup from arch-rival
Singapore when both teams meet at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sept 29.
Organising chairman Datuk Abd Karim Munisar said Selangor has the capability to beat Singapore this year after suffering a narrow 0-1 defeat last year.
"The Sultan Selangor Cup is a tournament that features two matches - a veteran match featuring ex-internationals from both countries and another match that involves a selection of current players from both countries - while tournament offers RM50,000 to the winner," he told reporters here Tuesday.
Apart from losing 0-1 last year, Selangor had also lost 0-6 in 2010 and 0-3 in 2009.
