Sukan Sea ke-29 : ‘Kita belum bersedia’

KETIKA Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) sudah menyatakan Malaysia akan menjadi tuan rumah Sukan Sea ke-29 pada 2017, lain pula nada dinyatakan Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Ditemui selepas majlis pelancaran Akademi Kejurulatihan Kebangsaan semalam, Ahmad Shabery lebih menggambarkan negara belum cukup bersedia menjadi tuan rumah sukan dwitahunan serantau itu berikutan beberapa faktor termasuk masa yang suntuk.

“Saya tidak berani menyatakan boleh dianjurkan atau tidak tapi bagi saya, perkara ini banyak membabitkan soal kos yang pastinya agak besar.

“Selain itu, saya perlu membawa perkara ini ke kabinet terlebih dulu bagi mendapat persetujuan semua pihak kerana dalam RMK (Rancangan Malaysia) ke-10 memang tiada menyentuh soal ini,” katanya.

Jelas Ahmad Shabery, masa juga semakin suntuk untuk negara menjadi tuan rumah temasya sukan itu kerana tahun 2017 hanya berbaki lima tahun saja.

“Lima tahun satu jangka masa yang tidak begitu lama. Kita tidak boleh bergantung kepada kemudahan sedia ada saja jika mahu menjadi tuan rumah Sukan Sea.


“Sebaliknya kita perlu menambah baik kemudahan sedia ada serta membina beberapa lagi infrastruktur baru tapi seperti saya katakan tadi, ia membabitkan jumlah kos yang besar.

“Saya tiada hak mendesak kerajaan tapi jika ia membabitkan wang kerajaan, perkara ini perlu dibincangkan terlebih dulu,” katanya.

Jelas Ahmad Shabery, Malaysia mungkin boleh menganjurkan Sukan Sea ke-29 andai penganjurannya menggunakan modul swasta atau dengan kata lain mendapat sokongan padu sektor swasta.

Memberi contoh temasya Sukan Olimpik yang membabitkan modul swasta dalam penganjurannya, Ahmad Shabery bagaimanapun menyatakan, temasya Sukan Sea biasanya membabitkan bajet kerajaan.

“Sukan Sea tidak seperti Olimpik kerana ia belum mencapai tahap menggunakan modul swasta yang besar,” katanya.

MOM menerusi Setiausaha Kehormatnya, Datuk Sieh Kok Chi baru-baru ini mengeluarkan kenyataan mengesahkan giliran Malaysia untuk menjadi tuan rumah sukan dwitahunan serantau itu pada 2017 berikutan tiada negara sedia menawarkan diri sebagai tuan rumah.

Kok Chi berkata demikian selepas menghadiri Mesyuarat Persekutuan Sukan Sea (SGF) di Myanmar hujung minggu lalu. Justeru itu, Ahmad Shabery meminta MOM yang sebelum ini membuat pengumuman supaya merujuk kepada pihaknya terlebih dulu.

Sukan Sea ke-17 sepatutnya dianjur Brunei namun negara itu mahu menjadi ruan rumah pada 2019.

Kali terakhir Malaysia menjadi tuan rumah Sukan Sea adalah pada 2001 apabila muncul juara keseluruhan dengan 111 pingat emas, diikuti Thailand (103) dan Indonesia (72).

Selain tahun 2001, Malaysia pernah menjadi tuan rumah kejohanan itu pada 1977 dan 1989.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
