KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- The National Athletes Welfare
Foundation (Yakeb) will be presenting a proposal to the goverment to
consider disbursing a special allowance for its members.
"Yakeb will be drafting a special budget to the government to consider giving a special allowance to Yakeb members who comprise former national athletes.
"The special allowance is like BR1M(1Malaysia People's Aid) as a gesture of appreciation for the services and sacrifices of former athletes to the country," said its chairman Datuk Jamil Salleh.
According to Jamil, while the proposal had yet to be decided and was still at the discussion stage, it could benefit 1,600 registered members if the proposal was approved.
He said this when opening Yakeb's annual general meeting for 2010 and 2011 at Seri Kembangan near here Saturday.
