Saya sudah bersedia - Paulus

JURULATIH kelahiran Indonesia, Paulus Firman yakin beliau kini sudah bersedia untuk menggalas tugas melatih beregu utama lelaki negara, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong.

Meskipun sedar tekanan yang bakal dihadapi, memandangkan sasaran untuk Kien Keat-Boon Heong adalah mara ke final Kejohanan Badminton Dunia di Guangzhou, China, Ogos depan, Paulus berkata, beliau menganggap itu sebagai satu cabaran baharu buat dirinya.

"Memang ia memberikan tekanan kepada saya tetapi saya lebih suka menganggapnya sebagai satu cabaran.

"Saya percaya, jika kita bekerja keras dan memberikan komitmen sepenuhnya, hasilnya pasti positif," kata Paulus ketika ditemui pemberita selepas hadir buat kali pertama di pejabat Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) di Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara semalam.

Terdahulu, Paulus telah mengadakan perbincangan dengan ketua jurulatih beregu negara, Tan Kim Her dan barisan kejurulatihan yang lain berhubung tugasnya bersama skuad negara.

Hasil perbincangan tersebut, beliau diberi tanggungjawab untuk melatih Kien Keat-Boon Heong selain dua lagi gandingan beregu lelaki, Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong dan Mohd. Lutfi Zaim Abdul Khalid- Tan Wee Gieen.
Menurut bekas jurulatih beregu Indonesia itu, beliau optimis dapat mempersiapkan Kien Keat-Boon Heong bagi mencapai sasaran yang diletakkan BAM untuk mara ke final Kejohanan Dunia.
"Kejohanan Dunia akan berlangsung pada Ogos depan dan kita masih mempunyai masa sekurang-kurangnya enam bulan lagi untuk melakukan persiapan. Buat masa ini saya tidak boleh beritahu apa perancangan saya.

"Saya perlu berjumpa dengan pemain terlebih dahulu untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut situasi mereka. Apa yang saya boleh katakan, saya akan meletakkan sasaran untuk Kien Keat-Boon Heong dalam setiap kejohanan disertai mereka sebelum Kejohanan Dunia bermula.

"Kien Keat-Boon Heong pernah menjadi beregu No. 1 dunia dan prestasi mereka ketika itu memang hebat. Mereka memiliki teknik permainan yang bagus.

"Cuma, saya tidak tahu apa punca kemerosotan prestasi mereka. Saya akan membuat analisis mengenai perkara ini bagi mendapat gambaran apa masalah mereka sebenarnya," kata Paulus.
Pada 16 Ogos lalu, Presiden BAM, Datuk Seri Mohd. Nadzmi Mohd. Salleh mengesahkan bahawa badan induk sukan badminton negara itu bersetuju untuk melantik Paulus selaku jurulatih beregu negara dengan kontrak selama dua tahun.

Beliau akan memulakan tugas secara rasmi Jumaat ini.
Paulus memulakan karier sebagai pemain bermula pada 1991 hingga 1995 sebagai pemain beregu campuran Indonesia sebelum memulakan khidmatnya selaku jurulatih bersama kelab badminton di Pulau Pinang, Wira Tangkis pada 1996.

Setahun kemudian, beliau mendapat tawaran untuk menjadi jurulatih beregu skuad badminton Indonesia hingga 2012.

Tugasan terakhirnya bersama skuad Indonesia adalah sebagai jurulatih beregu wanita.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
