KUALA LUMPUR: The National Paralympic archery team who competed in
the Para-Archery World Ranking Championships in Bangkok, Thailand,
returned home with an impressive haul of medals.
National archers hauled in three silver medals in the championships that ended on Saturday, through Zulkifli Mat Zin (men’s Recurve W2), Hasihin Sanawi (pic), Zulkifli, T. Suresh (men’s Recurve team) and Nor Saadah Abdul Wahab, Nor Suhaili Yusof, Rosnane Ibrahim (women’s Recurve open team).
Hasihin, winner of a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics, also picked up two bronze medals from the men’s Recurve W2 and mixed Recurve event partnering Nor Saadah.
The accomplishment, however, failed to match the two-gold medal feat, achieved through Zulkifli Mat Zin and Nor Saadah Abd Wahab in the previous edition that was also held in Bangkok, last year.
Coach Mohamad Noor Affizzan Khairulzaim said the National archers started off well by giving their more illustrious opponents from Thailand and Ukraine, a tough challenge.
“Considering the high level of competition and the domination of Thailand and Ukraine, our young archers did well,” he said .
