Chong Wei Mudah Mara Ke Suku Akhir Terbuka Perancis

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 Okt (Bernama) -- Jaguh badminton negara Datuk Lee Chong Wei akan menggalas cabaran negara bersama dua beregu lelaki dan beregu campuran negara pada suku akhir Kejohanan Terbuka Perancis di Stadium Pierre De Coubertin, Paris.

Pada saingan pusingan kedua Khamis , Chong Wei, tidak menghadapi masalah untuk mengatasi Ajay Jayaram dari India dengan keputusan 21-18 dan 21-18 dalam masa 45 minit.

Chong Wei, selaku pilihan utama kejohanan, akan berjumpa dengan pemain veteran Thailand, Boonsak Ponsana, yang terpaksa berkerja keras untuk mengalahkan K. Srikanth dari India dengan keputusan 15-21, 21-18 dan 21-15 untuk mara ke suku akhir, demikian menurut laman web kejohanan www.yonexifb.com.

Beregu utama negara Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong mudah mengatasi beregu Jerman, Micheal Funchs/Johannes Schoettler dalam straight set 21-19 dan 21-19 dalam masa 43 minit untuk mara ke pusingan suku akhir.

Kien Keat/Boon Heong, yang juga beregu pilihan keempat, dijadualkan bertemu Chris Adcock/Andrew Ellis dari England yang menewaskan lawan mereka Kim Ki Jung/Kim Sa Rang dari Korea Selatan 22-20, 19-21, 21-18.

Satu lagi beregu kebangsaan Hoon Thien How/Tan Wee Kiong turut mara ke suku akhir dan akan berdepan tentangan sengit oleh beregu pilihan utama kejohanan, Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong dari Korea Selatan.

Terdahulu, Thien Hoe/Wee Kiong menundukkan Chan Yun Lung/Lee Chun Hei dari Hong Kong dalam masa 32 minit dengan keputusan straight set 21-18 dan 21-18. Beregu campuran negara Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying memberikan aksi cemerlang apabila layak ke suku akhir dengan menewaskan Chris Langrinde/Heather Olver dari England, 21-18 dan 21-17 dalam masa 46 minit.

Peng Soon/Liu Ying akan menentang beregu pilihan utama kejohanan iaitu Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei dari China pada perlawanan seterusnya.

Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) tidak menghantar pemain wanita dalam acara perseorangan dan beregu pada kejohanan siri super bernilai US$200,000 (RM631,530) itu.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
