KOM tidak berganjak keputusan

KUALA LUMPUR - Kesatuan Olahraga Malaysia (KOM) tetap berpegang teguh dengan pendirian berhubung atlet kategori A ke Sukan SEA 2013 biarpun tidak sependapat dengan Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Khairy Jamaluddin dan Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN).

Malah, mesyuarat antara MSN dan KOM yang dijadual akan diadakan dalam masa terdekat ini seakan telah membayangkan bahawa tidak akan membawa perubahan terhadap keputusan badan induk olahraga tersebut.

Presiden KOM, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad berkata, persatuan perlu berpegang dengan pendirian asal mereka iaitu hanya akan menghantar atlet yang melepasi kelayakan ke Sukan SEA 2013 di Myanmar hujung tahun ini.

Tambah Zainal, sekiranya KOM akur dengan cadangan untuk menghantar atlet dalam kategori B maka imej persatuan mungkin terjejas berikutan tidak mengotakan apa yang telah dikatakan sebelum ini.

"Saya harap semua pihak faham dengan pendirian kami dan kami juga tidak mahu menimbulkan masalah cuma saya perlu menyuarakan kata putus yang telah dipersetujui oleh ahli majlis.
"Pada masa yang sama juga kami dalam proses untuk mengembalikan kecemerlangan olahraga dan ini satu tugas besar buat saya dan ahli yang ada dalam KOM ini," katanya ketika dihubungi Utusan Malaysia di sini, semalam.

Isu berhubung penghantaran atlet ke Sukan SEA 2013 mula timbul apabila KOM menetapkan enam atlet lompat tinggi yang layak secara merit perlu bersaing sesama sendiri pada Kejohanan Olahraga Terbuka Kebangsaan pada dua minggu lalu untuk memilih dua yang terbaik.
Lebih menghangatkan isu tersebut apabila Lee Hup Wei yang juga penyandang pingat emas Sukan SEA 2011, 2009 dan 2007 tidak berjaya menempatkan diri dalam slot dua terbaik untuk ke temasya itu.

Sementara itu, jika diteliti senarai 39 atlet olahraga yang disenaraikan ke Sukan SEA 2013 kebanyakan mereka adalah atlet muda dan ada yang kali pertama beraksi pada temasya tersebut.
Pendirian KOM untuk terus menghantar atlet menerusi kategori A tersebut adalah langkah berani persatuan tersebut dalam usaha melahirkan pelapis kepada jaguh yang sedia ada.

Sekiranya atlet tersebut dapat merealisasikan sasaran tujuh emas yang ditetapkan oleh KOM maka ia akan menjadi satu pencapaian terbaik persatuan di bawah kepimpinan baharu.
Malah, selepas ini pada Sukan SEA 2015 pihak KOM tidak lagi perlu bimbang untuk menghantar atlet beraksi di pentas Asia Tenggara berikutan sudah mempunyai barisan atlet baharu berpengalaman.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
