Jangan Jadi Pasukan Belasahan - Tengku Abdullah

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 Nov (Bernama) -- Presiden Konfederasi Hoki Malaysia (MHC) Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah mahu skuad hoki remaja negara menampilkan aksi terpuji dan tidak menjadi pasukan belasahan pada Piala Dunia Remaja 2013 di New Delhi, India bulan depan.

Tengku Abdullah menuntut anak buah Mohd Dhamaraj Abdullah itu mempamerkan prestasi cemerlang bagi mencapai sasaran muncul antara enam pasukan terbaik pada kejohanan di Stadium Hoki Major Dhyan Chand dari 6 hingga 15 Dis.

"Saya yakin pasukan ini akan memberi yang terbaik...beri mereka peluang membuktikan prestasi cemerlang...impian saya ialah (pasukan negara) muncul enam pasukan terbaik.

"Saya harap pemain akan berjuang bersungguh-sungguh untuk menjulang nama negara," katanya kepada pemberita selepas majlis penajaan skuad hoki itu oleh Felda di sini Selasa.

Pasukan hoki remaja kebangsaan itu menerima suntikan tajaan berjumlah RM500,000 daripada Felda.

Pada majlis itu juga, setiap pemain termasuk jurulatih menerima insentif RM4,000 atas kejayaan muncul naib juara pada Piala Sultan Johor, September lepas.

Dalam pada itu, Tengku Abdullah menghargai komitmen yang ditunjukkan Felda dalam membangunkan sukan hoki menerusi tajaan itu.

Pada Piala Dunia Remaja 2013, Malaysia diletakkan dalam Kumpulan D bersama New Zealand, England dan Afrika Selatan manakala juara bertahan Jerman mengetuai Kumpulan A yang turut merangkumi Pakistan, Mesir dan Belgium.

Kumpulan B membabitkan pasukan Australia, Sepanyol, Argentina dan Perancis manakala Kumpulan C menampilkan saingan antara Korea Selatan, Belanda, India dan Kanada.

Pasukan kebangsaan akan berlepas ke New Delhi pada 1 Dis dan dijadual mengadakan perlawanan persahabatan menentang Jerman pada 3 Dis sebelum membuka tirai bertemu New Zealand pada 6 Dis.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM
