Kejohanan Skuasy Wanita Dunia CIMB Ke-29 Di Pulau Pinang Bulan Depan

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Feb (Bernama) -- Kejohanan Skuasy Wanita Dunia CIMB ke-29 akan diadakan di Pusat Pameran dan Konvensyen Antarabangsa Pulau Pinang Subterranean (SPICE) Bayan Baru, Pulau Pinang dari 15 hingga 23 Mac.

Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan Nusmetro Thomas Chan, penganjur kejohanan itu berkata kejohanan itu bakal menampilkan ratu skuasy negara Datuk Nicol Ann David serta 10 pemain terkemuka dunia lain.

Kejohanan itu diadakan tahun ini berikutan pembatalan edisi 2013 apabila Hong Kong dan Mesir, masing-masing menolak penganjurannya.

"Pulau Pinang mempunyai keunikan tersendiri selain mempunyai kemudahan dan infrastruktur sukan yang lengkap untuk menganjurkan kejohanan ini.

"Kita juga mahu menyaksikan pemain nombor satu dunia Nicol Ann David mempertahankan kejuaraannya kali ini di tempat sendiri," katanya kepada pemberita pada majlis menandatangani perjanjian penajaan Kumpulan CIMB dan kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang, di sini, hari ini.

Pada majlis itu, Ketua Menteri Lim Guan Eng menyaksikan majlis menandatangani perjanjian penajaan antara Ketua Pemasaran dan Komunikasi Kumpulan CIMB, Effendy Shahul Hamid dan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Belia dan Sukan, Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat Pulau Pinang, Chong Eng.

Nicol yang berasal dari Pulau Pinang merupakan juara dunia pada 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 dan 2012.

Turut serta bersama Nicol ialah pemain nombor enam dunia Low Wee Wern dan pemain amatur negara, Vanessa Raj yang meraih tiket wild-card.

Antara pemain terkemuka yang hadir ialah pemain nombor dua dunia Laura Massaro, Raneem El Welily dari Mesir (nombor tiga dunia), Alison Waters (4) dan Joelle King (5) dari New Zealand.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
