Chong Wei, Nicol ketuai senarai

SKUAD hoki remaja kebangsaan menjadi pilihan untuk menerima Anugerah Khas pada majlis Anugerah Persatuan Penulis-penulis Sukan Malaysia (SAM)-100Plus 2013, 3 April depan.

Skuad kebangsaan diiktiraf selepas mendapat tempat keempat pada Kejohanan Piala Dunia Remaja 2013 di New Delhi, India, Disember lalu, sekali gus melepasi sasaran dalam kelompok keenam terbaik yang diletakkan oleh Konfederasi Hoki Malaysia (MHC).

Sementara itu, tiada elemen kejutan dalam senarai pencalonan apabila pemain badminton No. 1 dunia, Datuk Lee Chong Wei sekali lagi akan berentap dengan ratu skuasy, Datuk Nicol David.
Ratu terjun, Pandelela Rinong turut disenaraikan bersama penerjun berpengalaman, Leong Mun Yee dalam saingan merebut anugerah berprestij tersebut pada majlis yang akan berlangsung di Hotel Hilton Petaling Jaya itu.

Pencapai luar biasa acara wusyu juga telah melayakkan dua atlet daripada sukan tersebut, Diana Bong dan Hon Mun Hua untuk disenaraikan bagi Anugerah Atlet Terbaik 2014 di samping atlet bina badan, Sazali Samad.

Presiden SAM, Ahmad Khawari Isa berkata, enam calon tersebut merupakan atlet terbaik berdasarkan pencapaian mereka sepanjang tahun lalu,” katanya pada sidang akbar di Petaling Jaya semalam.

Juara bagi kategori itu akan membawa pulang hadiah wang tunai berjumlah RM10,000 berserta trofi.
Pandelela menjadi atlet pertama yang memenangi kategori tersebut sebanyak dua kali pada tahun 2010 dan 2012, manakala penembak negara, Nur Suryani Taibi memenanginya pada 2011.

Selain itu, kategori Atlet Penampilan Semula Terbaik, Atlet Remaja Terbaik dan Persatuan Sukan Paling Dinamik turut disenaraikan termasuk Anugerah Khas SAM.


Tidak ketinggalan, ahli SAM juga berpeluang merebut hadiah wang tunai keseluruhan berjumlah RM40,000 menerusi Anugerah Media SAM-KBS yang dibahagikan kepada enam kategori di mana pemenang hadiah utama akan membawa pulang wang tunai RM7,000 dan trofi.

Pemenang bagi enam kategori yang dipertandingkan akan menerima RM3,000 manakala lima pencalonan yang disenarai pendek masing-masing akan menerima RM500 serta pingat.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach. "After listening to the recording of the post-match press conference, we decided to drop the charge against Rajagopal as he did not make such a statement.
