KUANTAN, April 27 (Bernama) --Malaysia suffered their second consecutive defeat in their Champions Challenge 1 campaign after going down 1-3 to South Korea in a Group B match at the Indera Mahkota Hockey Stadium, here Sunday.
South Korea opened accounts through Nam Hyun Woo's penalty corner strike in the 20th minute while You Hyo Sik added the second in the 37th minute before Jang Jong Hyun added the third in the 50th minute.
Malaysia scored a consolation goal through Ismail Abu in the 69th minute.
National coach Mohammad Dhaarma Raj Abdullah said failure to put away chances created, cost the team dear.
"We had six penalty corners but we did not score any compared to South Korea," he told reporters here today.
Malaysia will now have to beat Canada to collect three points.
In today's another Group B match Canada edged France 3-2 to move into second place in Group B behind South Korea but both teams have four points.
In Group A, New Zealand whipped Japan 6-1 while Poland scored a 2-1 victory over Ireland.
Tomorrow is a rest day.
