PABM Optimis Raih Empat Pingat Pada Sukan Komanwel 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Jun (Bernama) -- Persekutuan Angkat Berat Malaysia (PABM) optimis dengan kemampuan skuad negara untuk meraih sekurang-kurangnya empat pingat pada temasya Sukan Komanwel 2014 di Glasgow, Scotland, bermula 23 Julai ini.

Presidennya Datuk Ong Poh Eng berkata 12 atlet, termasuk empat wanita yang telah terpilih menggalas cabaran negara pada temasya itu, diharap mampu memberikan prestasi terbaik.

Ong, yang juga Presiden Persatuan Angkat Berat Amatur Pulau Pinang berkata, atlet kini giat menjalani latihan intensif di Indonesia, di bawah kendalian tiga jurulatih asing iaitu Wang Zhi Quan dari China, Stefan Stefanov (Bulgaria) dan Lockman dari Indonesia.

"Kesemua atlet kini menjalani latihan di Indonesia bagi memastikan mereka kekal fokus untuk menghadapi temasya itu nanti. Seorang lagi atlet Abd Mubin Rahim memilih untuk menjalani latihan persendirian di Terengganu.

"Selepas menjalani latihan di Indonesia, mereka akan kembali ke Malaysia pada 13 Julai ini sebelum berlepas ke Glasgow bersama kontinjen negara empat hari kemudian," katanya kepada Bernama, pada Jumaat.

Sejumlah lapan atlet lelaki yang bakal menggalas cabaran negara adalah Mohd Faizal Baharom dalam kategori 56kg; Zulhelmi Md Pisol (56kg); Constantine Clement (62kg); Mohd Hafifi Mansor (69kg); Mohd Azril Huzairi Ramli(69kg); Abd Mubin Rahim (77kg), Mohd Faiz Musa (94kg) dan Loro Wellkinson Peuji dalam kategori 77kg.

Olahragawati Sukma Pahang 2012, Frenceay Titus yang bakal bertanding dalam kategori 53kg akan mengetuai cabaran skuad wanita, bersama Sharifah Inani Najwa Syed Anuar (48kg); Nurjannah Batrisyah (lebih 75kg) dan Azizah Fadzil dalam kategori 53kg.

Untuk rekod, pencapaian terbaik skuad angkat berat kebangsaan adalah pada edisi 2010 di New Delhi, India dengan kutipan dua emas, masing-masing menerusi Amirul Hamizan Ibrahim (56kg) dan Aricco Jumitih dalam kategori 62kg.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
