Pandelela To Use Two-week Break To Treat Injuries


KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Pandelela Rinong said she will fully use the two-week break given by national diving chief coach, Yang Zhuliang to get her injuries treated at the National Sport Institute (ISN).

The national diving queen, and winner of a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the 10m women's platform event, said although the time was short, she was confident her shoulder and ankle injuries could heal.

"Although, my injuries are not serious, I will still see ISN's medical officers during the rest period.

"To me, although it is quite difficult to fully recover in two weeks as the injuries are longstanding ones, I am confident they will be cured before I perform in any championship next year," she told Bernama.

Pandelela said, the national squad would not be participating in any championships and would train as normal after the two-week rest period, in order to face several championships next year including the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore and the International Swimming Federation World Series Diving Championships (FINA).

In the meantime, the Sarawak-born athlete was also satisfied with her achievements of a silver and two bronze medals at the three-day Fina Grand Prix Diving Championship which ended Sunday at the National Aquatics Centre in Bukit Jalil.

She won a silver medal via the women's 10m syncronised platform with Cheong Jun Hoong and a bronze medal in an individual event.

"I am happy because I succeeded in achieving my personal target, namely, to improve the quality of my diving. Despite only training twice with Cheong, I am quite proud as we managed to get an encouraging result," Pandelela added.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
