KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Sports Commissioner Ahmad Shapawi
Ismail has confirmed receiving an appeal letter from the Malaysian
National Cycling Federation (MNCF), minutes before the Sports
Commissioner's office closed at 5 pm this evening.
Ahmad Shapawi said MNCF also attached a written explanation on corrective actions taken on its annual financial report.
"We will study the documents with the Youth and Sports Ministry Internal Audit unit soon," he said.
The Sports Commissioner had earlier suspended MNCF for a month from Oct 24 after the cycling body failed to reply to a show cause letter following an investigation on the body in October.
During the suspension period, MNCF was directed to take the necessary corrective measures.
The MNCF's problems began when the national highway cycling squad failed to win a gold medal at the 2013 SEA Games despite receiving allocations amounting to millions of ringgit from the Youth and Sports Ministry each year.
