Beng Hai tidak terus dipinggir



KONFEDERASI Hoki Malaysia (MHC) mengesahkan, Tai Beng Hai akan terus berada dalam peranca­ngan skuad hoki negara.

Terdahulu, badan induk sukan hoki negara itu mengakui tugasan Beng Hai tamat sejurus berakhirnya saingan Pusingan Kedua Liga Hoki Dunia (WHL) di Singapura, Ahad lalu yang mana menyaksikan The Speedy Tigers muncul juara.

Kejayaan itu menyaksikan impian skuad hoki negara beraksi pada Sukan Olimpik 2016 di Rio de Janeiro, Brazil semakin cerah apabila berjaya mara ke Separuh Akhir WHL di Belgium pada 20 Jun hingga 5 Julai depan.

Pada saingan itu nanti, ‘kerusi’ ketua jurulatih tidak akan lagi menjadi milik Beng Hai yang mana MHC tetap dengan pendiriannya untuk melantik pe­ngendali asing dipercayai konsultan skuad hoki negara ketika ini iaitu Neil Hawgood.

“Kejayaan di Singapura memberi semangat baharu kepada pemain selepas prestasi merudum tahun lalu. Saya percaya prestasi kita boleh terus mening­kat dan ditajamkan lagi untuk Separuh Akhir WHL nanti.

“Status Beng Hai masih lagi jurulatih, dia sebahagian daripada jawatankuasa kejurulatihan. Buat masa ini memang pendirian MHC untuk melantik jurulatih luar (Hawgood) tetapi kita perlu tunggu lebih spesifik.

“Jadi, Beng Hai dan Stephen (van Huizen) akan terus berada dalam perancangan pasukan,” kata Setiausaha Kehormat MHC, Datuk Mohd. Johari Abdul Aziz semalam.

Sementara itu, Johari tidak menghalang hasrat Hawgood (sekiranya dilantik) untuk mela­kukan pemilihan semula 25 pemain meskipun 18 pemain sedia ada telah menunjukkan prestasi membanggakan di Singapura.

“Mungkin dia hendak besarkan lagi bilangan pemain sedia ada,” jelasnya.
Difahamkan, skuad hoki negara perlu melepasi saringan ter­akhir Separuh Akhir WHL di Brasschaat, Belgium dengan bertemu tuan rumah, Australia, Great Britain, India, Pakistan dan empat lagi pasukan yang akan melayakkan diri daripada Pusingan Kedua WHL di Chula Vista, Amerika Syarikat dan Cape Town, Afrika Selatan.

The Speedy Tigers dikatakan perlu sekurang-kurangnya mendapat tempat keempat di Belgium jika mahu layak ke Sukan Olimpik selepas kali terakhir ke temasya itu 15 tahun lalu.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
