Peluang cerah ke Rio 2016




SINGAPURA - Konsultan sementara skuad hoki kebangsaan, Neil Hawgood yakin, Malaysia mempunyai peluang baik untuk kembali meraih tiket ke Sukan Olimpik selepas 15 tahun apabila beraksi pada saingan Separuh Akhir Liga Hoki Dunia, Jun ini.

Bagaimanapun katanya, misi tersebut hanya mampu tercapai jika anak-anak buah Tai Beng Hai mengekalkan rentak permainan cemerlang yang ditunjukkan ketika muncul juara Pusingan Kedua di Singapura, kelmarin. 

Skuad The Speedy Tigers melengkapkan kecemerlangan de­ngan membelasah Poland 8-0 untuk dinobat sebagai juara, namun Hawgood berkata, prestasi tersebut tidak ditunjukkan secara keseluruhan dari awal saingan dan dia mahu persembahan di final dijadikan penanda aras aksi mereka dalam setiap perlawanan. 

“Tidak boleh turun naik (pres­tasi). Saya tidak sangka menang sehingga 8-0 tetapi kita menguasai perlawanan ke­rana kita memiliki kelajuan serta kemahiran yang berbeza de­ngan mereka (Poland).
“Kita juga perlu faham ada jurang ranking di tempat ke-12 (Malaysia) dan mereka di kedudukan ke-18, jadi kita memang dijangka menang kejohanan ini,” kata Hawgood. 

Katanya lagi, mungkin satu pemilihan akan dibuat bulan depan untuk menyenaraikan 25 pemain terbaik, namun pada masa sama dia menyifatkan barisan skuad bimbi­ngan Beng Hai adalah yang terbaik buat masa ini.

“Saya setuju Faizal (Saari) adalah pemain terbaik Malaysia. 

“Jika kita lihat dalam kejohanan ini dia jaring banyak gol, namun ba­nyak perkara kecil yang perlu diperbaiki.
“Dia ada bakat besar tetapi kita perlu faham ia memerlukan masa untuk diasah.
“Kita jangan terlalu terburu-buru dan letak terlalu banyak harapan. Dalam masa tiga atau empat tahun dia akan jadi pemain yang sangat bagus,” katanya lagi.

Hawgood dijangka mengambil alih tugas jurulatih Malaysia daripada Beng Hai apabila pasukan negara beraksi pada Separuh Akhir Liga Hoki Dunia.
“Beng Hai membuktikan dia seorang jurulatih yang bagus, namun Neil akan mengambil alih pasukan pada Separuh Akhir Liga Dunia.

“Beng Hai akan bertindak sebagai pembantu jurulatih dan pengurus pasukan,” kata Naib Pre­siden Kanan Konfederasi Hoki Malaysia (MHC), Datuk Nur Azmi.
Sementara itu, Beng Hai berkata, komitmen tinggi pemain adalah kunci kemenangan Malaysia di Singapura. 

“Pemain bersungguh hendak mencari tiket ke Separuh Akhir Liga Dunia” katanya.
Separuh Akhir Liga Hoki Dunia akan berlangsung di Buenos Aires, Argentina (3-14 Jun) dan Antwerp, Belgium (20 Jun-4 Julai). 

Mengikut jadual asal, Malaysia akan beraksi di Antwerp, namun ia bergantung kepada keputusan ak­hir Persekutuan Hoki Antarabangsa (FIH).

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
