SRAM Optimistic National Juniors Can Lift Asian Team Title

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) is optimistic the national junior squad can lift their maiden Asian junior title.

The CIMB Foundation 17th Asian Junior Team Championship 2015 which starts tomorrow until Feb 1 will be held at the National Squash Centre, Bukit Jalil.

SRAM president Huang Ying How said the target was realistic as the junior men's and women's were the second and first seed of the tournament.

"We're aiming to emerge champions in this tournament. The Malaysian boys can upset the Pakistanis who are the first seed.

"Our girls are the first seed but rivals such as Hong Kong and India are very strong. It will be a tough fight for them.

"At the World Women Championship in Canada recently, Malaysia were in the top two and Hong Kong were in the top four.

"Asian countries are coming up. Even Japan is getting stronger which is good for Asia," he said told Bernama at the welcome dinner, here Tuesday night.

For a record, the Malaysian junior men's and women's team finished third at the 16th Asian Junior Squash Championship 2013 in Seoul, South Korea.

The 14 participating countries are Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, Kuwait, Pakistan, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

The Malaysian men's team: Ng Eain Yow, Mohammad Syafiq Mohd Kamal, Darren Chan and Mohd Farez Izwan Mohd Mukhtar.

The Malaysian women's team: Rachel Mae Arnold, Teh Min Jie, Zoe Foo Yuk Han and S. Sivasangari.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
