Sukan Olimpik - London 2012

Sukan Olimpik 2012 London membuka tirai secara rasminya hari ini dan pemburuan pingat emas pertama buat Malaysia pada temasya sukan terbesar dunia itu juga bermula. Sejak Malaysia membuat penampilan pertama pada temasya tersebut di Melbourne, Australia pada 1956, setakat ini hanya acara badminton yang tampil sebagai penyumbang pingat. Kebanggaan Malaysia setakat ini ialah meraih dua pingat perak pada temasya tersebut yang disumbangkan oleh beregu lelaki badminton, Cheah Soon Kit-Yap Kim Hock pada Sukan Olimpik 1996 di Atlanta. Datuk Lee Chong Wei pula melakukannya pada 2008 di Beijing, China. Sebelum itu, gandingan Razif dan Jalani Sidek menyumbang pingat gangsa pada temasya 1992 di Barcelona apabila acara badminton di perkenalkan buat pertama kalinya pada temasya Olimpik manakala Rashid Sidek turut menang gangsa pada temasya 1996. KL tuan rumah Sidang IOC 2015

LONDON - Kuala Lumpur akan menjadi tuan rumah Persidangan IOC Ke-127 pada 2015, kata Menteri Belia dan Sukan Malaysia Datuk Seri Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek semalam. Menurutnya, keputusan tersebut dicapai selepas dipersetujui sebulat suara dalam sidang IOC Ke-124 di London semalam. "Keputusan dibuat selepas semua anggota IOC berpuas hati dengan pembentangan mengenai keupayaan Kuala Lumpur menjadi tuan rumah," katanya dalam kenyataan semalam. Shabery berkata, selain beliau, pembentangan telah disampaikan oleh Presiden Majlis Olimpik Malaysia, Tan Sri Tengku Imran Tuanku Jaafar. Persidengan dipengerusikan oleh Presiden IOC J. Rogge.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 (Bernama) -- English Premier League outfit Arsenal FC came from behind to gun down Malaysia 2-1 in an action packed friendly match at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, here Tuesday night. Yakeb Sumbang RM31,000 Kepada Keluarga Allahyarham Ahmad

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 Julai (Bernama) -- Yayasan Kebajikan Atlet Kebangsaan (Yakeb) pada Selasa menyampaikan sumbangan insurans dan khairat kematian yayasan itu berjumlah RM31,000 kepada keluarga bekas atlet angkat berat kebangsaan, Allahyarham Ahmad Lebai Jamaluddin. Allahyarham Ahmad, 59, meninggal dunia petang Isnin akibat penyakit paru-paru berair serta komplikasi jantung dan dikebumikan di Tanah Perkuburan Islam Ipoh, pada pukul 10 pagi Selasa. Yakeb dalam satu kenyataan berkata semasa hayatnya Allahyarham adalah jurulatih angkat berat pasukan Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) Perak sejak 1999. Semasa zamannya sebagai atlet, Allahyarham pernah mewakili negara di Sukan SEA Kuala Lumpur 1989 yang mana beliau menduduki tempat keempat dan memecahkan rekod kebangsaan dengan angkatan 115kg bagi acara clean & jerk dan 112kg bagi snatch.

Shahidan Wants To Quit As PFA President

KANGAR, July 22 (Bernama) - Perlis Football Association (PFA) president Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim wants to resign from the post he has been holding since 1998. He said that football development is a costly affair and proposed that Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Md Isa Sabu take over the association. "I know that the menteri besar is not keen on football but he has the financial resources to lead this sport," he told a press conference here Sunday. Financial factors caused Perlis to fare poorly in the Premier League this season and has to play in the FAM League next season. Shahidan said the PFA management spent millions of ringgit annually while the sources of finance are very limited.

Sea Games 2017: OCM Shall Submit Proposal Before Announcing To Public

KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) -- The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) should submit a proposal to the government before announcing that Malaysia would host the 2017 Sea Games to the public. National Sports Council (NSC) Director-General Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong said the discussion should be carried out taking into account the financial implications, before making the decision to organise the Sea Games. "I don't think the OCM will be able to organise the games without government assistance, but if the OCM has sufficient financial resources, NSC will be more than happy to approve. KUALA LUMPUR - Kesatuan Olahraga Malaysia (KOM) bakal mengemukakan rayuan kepada Persekutuan Olahraga Antarabangsa (IAAF) bagi meringankan hukuman terhadap atletnya Mohd. Yunus Lasalleh yang didapati positif doping pada Sukan SEA XXVI. Presiden KOM, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim berkata, rayuan akan kemukakan kerana Mohd. Yunus mempunyai prestasi yang baik dalam sukan olahraga. Kata Shahidan, KOM sedang menunggu keputusan daripada IAAF berhubung hukuman yang bakal dikenakan kepada atlet tersebut. "Kita telah memperoleh keputusan bahawa Mohd. Yunus memang positif doping dan kita masih menunggu tempoh hukuman pengantungan yang bakal dikenakan. LTdL Mampu 'Berdiri Sendiri' Tiga Tahun Lagi

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 Julai (Bernama) -- Masa depan kejohanan berbasikal Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) dilihat cerah dan dijangka mampu bergerak sendiri terutama bagi mendapatkan penajaan tanpa bantuan daripada kerajaan dalam tempoh tiga tahun akan datang. Putrajaya To Host Air Race World Championship In 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's administration capital Putrajaya will be home to the 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship, which is expected to draw over 80,000 local and international spectators. Red Bull Air Race managing director Erich Wolf said the international series had grown to become a major tourism draw for cities where it was held, mainly held over water near cities, airfields or natural wonders. The series had, in the past, visited Abu Dhabi, Perth, New York and Rio de Janeiro where it attracted more than 100,000 spectators at the locations, he said at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Red Bull Air Race and Aerolomba Sdn Bhd. Wolf signed the MoU on behalf of Red Bull Air Race while Aerolomba, a company that facilitates the coordination of logistics, accommodation and introduction to local businesses and organisations, was represented by its director, Mohd Halizi Mohamad.

Pahang Clinch Last Super League Slot

MELAKA, July 19 (Bernama) -- Premier league runners-up Pahang clinched the last Super League's berth for next season after edging Kedah 3-2 through a penalty shootout in a knockout match at the Hang Jebat Stadium here Thursday night. They played to a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes, including 30 minutes extra time. Pahang's goals in the penalty shootout came from Zaiza Zainal Abidin, Faizol Husin and Jalaluddin Hassan while Kedah replied through Mohd Fauzi Nan and captain Baddrol Bakhtiar. KUALA TERENGGANU, July 18 (Bernama) -- Additional incentives await the Terengganu SUKMA contingent that emerged overall champion at the 15th Pahang SUKMA that ended on Monday. Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the state government would announce a special incentive for the SUKMA contingent that clinched the overall title for the fourth consecutive time. "They deserve the incentives after putting on a brilliant performance in Pahang. An announcement will be made soon. "It will be in addition to what we have announced before," he said after chairing an exco meeting at Wisma Darul Iman here Wednesday. Terengganu had earlier announced that gold medal winners will receive RM5,000, silver medal (RM3,000) and bronze medal (RM2,000).

Pahang Shooter Gives Part Of Sukma Incentive To School

PEKAN, July 18 (Bernama) -- Pahang shooter Aina Zahiran, who won five gold medals in the Pahang SUKMA which ended recently, contributed part of her incentives received for her achievement, to the Parent and Teachers Association (PIBG) of Sekolah Kebangsaan Ubai, here. Aina, 18, a national back up squad shooter contributed RM2,000 to the PIBG of the school as a mark of appreciation for her success. "I have harboured this wish even before SUKMA started and I hope this contribution will help the PIBG's activities," she said here, Wednesday. Defending Champion Negeri Sembilan To Rope In Players From Sabah

ALOR SETAR, July 18 (Bernama) -- Defending champion Negeri Sembilan plans to loan a number of players from Sabah to beef up then squad in efforts to defend the Malaysia Cup. Head coach Mohd Azrai Khor Abdullah said the management of the Negeri Sembilan Football Association would submit a formal request this week to rope in several players who had been identified. However, Azrai declined to reveal the names of the players prior to an agreement from Sabah because other states could have also made earlier applications to get players from the Sabah team. He said he would also take five players from the Negeri Sembilan SUKMA squad to train together with the senior players from July 22. KUANTAN, July 15 (Bernama) -- Three times overall champion Terengganu edged closer to their fourth consecutive overall title after opening up a huge gap over closest rival Selangor when action ended on the penultimate day of the 15th Pahang SUKMA here Sunday. Yakeb Seeking BR1M-like Allowance For Its Members

32 FT Sukma Athletes Receive Incentives Of RM1,000 Each

The recipients of the incentives were aquatic participants (eight), equestrian (six), karate (three), badminton (eight), shooting (four), athletes (two) and lawn bowling (one). The incentive for individual participants is RM5,000 each, while for team category, it is RM4,000. The balance would be given at a date to be decided later by the Federal Territory Sports Council (MWSP). Raja Nong Chik said the incentive was one of many under the MWSP sports development programme, other than allowances for athletes, daily training allowances, participatory sponsorships to national and international championships and purchase of equipment.

KUALA LUMPUR - Selepas 12 tahun memimpin Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Datuk Seri Nadzmi Mohd. Salleh (gambar), baru-baru ini memberi bayangan kepada ahli majlis badan kebangsaan itu bahawa beliau sedia melepaskan jawatan presiden. Nadzmi, yang mula memegang tampuk kepimpinan BAM sejak tahun 2000, menyuarakan hasrat tersebut pada mesyuarat majlis 23 Jun lalu. Begitupun, beliau telah dipujuk oleh ahli majlis yang memintanya mempertimbangkan semula keputusan itu. Ia terhenti di situ, tiada sebarang keputusan dibuat oleh Nadzmi.
