Hafiz tidak mahu terus kecewa


HAFIZ bakal beraksi buat kali kesembilan pada Ironman Malaysia tahun ini.


JAGUH negara, Mohd. Hafiz Wong Abdullah menaruh harapan yang tinggi agar ada pihak yang tampil membantu- nya sekiranya layak beraksi pada Kejo- hanan Ironman Dunia, Oktober depan.

Menurut Hafiz, dia akan cuba melakukan yang terbaik pada Kejohanan Triatlon Ironman Malaysia 2009 di Langkawi esok, sekali gus melayakkan diri ke Kejohanan Dunia di Kona, Hawaii.

Begitu pun menurut Hafiz, dia tidak mahu insiden tahun lepas berulang kembali.

Sekali pun berjaya melayakkan diri pada Kejohanan Dunia, Hafiz terpaksa melupakan hasratnya itu ekoran kekura- ngan dana dan tajaan.

"Saya hanya berikhtiar untuk melayakkan diri tetapi saya memang berharap agar ada pihak yang sanggup menghulurkan bantuan sekiranya saya berjaya menempah slot ke Hawaii," kata Hafiz.

"Saya ingin buktikan bahawa saya mempunyai keupayaan dan berhak untuk diberi peluang beraksi pada Kejo- hanan Ironman Dunia.

"Saya akui, saya memang kecewa pada tahun lepas kerana saya terpaksa melupakan aksi di Hawaii berikutan keku- rangan bantuan."

Hafiz yang juga atlet terbaik negara pada Ironman Malaysia tahun lepas, meletakkan sasaran untuk mencatat masa kurang 10 jam pada kejohanan kali ini.

"Tahun lepas saya mencatat masa 10 jam, empat minit dan tahun ini saya ber- harap untuk mencatat masa kurang dari- pada 10 jam," tambah Hafiz.

"Saya sudah mempersiapkan diri selama dua bulan bagi menghadapi kejoha- nan ini dan saya yakin, saya mampu untuk melakukannya.

"Saya meletakkan sasaran yang tinggi dalam disiplin terakhir iaitu larian dan saya juga sukakan laluan baru bagi acara berbasikal tahun ini kerana kami akan menempuh laluan berbukit."

Sementara itu, Hafiz yang bakal beraksi buat kali kesembilan pada Ironman Malaysia tahun ini, turut mengharapkan untuk meraih hadiah wang tunai RM1,500 sekali gus menjadi atlet negra pertama yang melepasi garisan penamat esok.

Melalui Cabaran Ironman Terbaik Malaysia PowerBar yang baru diperkenalkan tahun ini, peserta pertama negara yang melepasi garisan penamat akan menerima hadiah wang tunai RM1,500.

Peserta kedua pula akan menerima RM1,000 dan RM750 buat peserta ketiga negara yang berjaya menamatkan saingan.

"Sememangnya ini merupakan satu motivasi untuk saya mencatat keputusan terbaik kerana ini merupakan kali pertama atlet tempatan pertama yang menamatkan perlumbaan diberi hadiah wang tunai," tambah Hafiz.

"Namun seperti yang saya katakan, apa yang lebih penting saya ingin melayakkan diri ke Kejohanan Dunia."

Ironman Malaysia 2009 yang akan bermula di Jeti Kuah dan tamat di Data- ran Lang melibatkan tiga disiplin iaitu berenang sejauh 3.8 kilometer, berbasi- kal (180km) dan berlari (42.2km).

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
