Agong To Tee-off In Inter-Varsity Golf Tourney

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin heads a list of dignitaries who will take part in an Inter-Varsity Golf tournament at Sungai Long Golf Resort, near here on July 7.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Alumni Honorary secretary Mohd Lilansah Idris said former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Melaka Yang DiPertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Higher Education minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin and Works minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor are among others in the list.

The tournament, organised by the UTM Alumni (PAUTM), would also comprise 80 former students of Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Sains Malaysia, he said.

Mohd Lilansah said each university is allowed to field 16 golfers and they would be divided into groups of 4 and play for the challenge trophy that was won by the UPM Alumni last year.

He added that this year, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia (UiTM) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIA) were also invited to participate.
