Sentuhan Hendrawan buat pemain nombor satu dunia mandi peluh

TAHAP aksi Hafiz Hashim yang lebih menyengat jadi tumpuan biarpun Lee Chong Wei akhirnya tetap mengungguli perseorangan lelaki acara badminton Mini Olimpik di Stadium Juara, semalam.

Hafiz, selepas dua minggu dilatih pengendali dari Indonesia, Hendrawan, mempamer tentangan sengit pada set awal sebelum kecundang 17-21. Chong Wei bagaimanapun jelas pada kelas lebih tinggi ketika menang 21-10 di set kedua.

Peningkatan Hafiz itu, terutama kekerapannya menggunakan taktik lebih menyerang, diakui sendiri Chong Wei, yang dituntut mempamer tahap terbaiknya.

"Saya mempunyai kelebihan daripada segi kelajuan, tetapi jika Hafiz meneruskan persembahan seperti hari ini (semalam), saya yakin dia pasti akan mampu kembali kepada tahap prestasi tertingginya," kata Chong Wei.

Tiada kejutan juga berlaku pada final perseorangan wanita apabila Wong Mew Choo, selepas ditentang hebat Lydia Cheah pada set pertama, muncul juara menerusi kemenangan 24-22, 21-17.

Gandingan Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui juga nyata lebih baik daripada lawan muda, Chong Sook Chin-Woon Khe Wei apabila menang 21-16, 21-17 ketika Fairuzizuan Tazari-Pei Tty muncul juara beregu campuran menerusi kejayaan 21-11, 21-18 ke atas Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying.

Final beregu lelaki yang menemukan dua pasangan veteran � Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah dan Chan Chong Ming-Chew Choon Eng � akhirnya dimenangi Chong Ming-Choon Eng 16-21, 21-15, 24-22.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
