Terjun diselitkan dalam RTL 2012


KUALA LUMPUR - Kejayaan dua atlet terjun negara, Leong Mun Yee dan Pandelela Rinong Pamg di Kejohanan Dunia FINA Ke-13 membolehkan acara itu turut dimuatkan dalam program Road To London (RTL) 2012 bersama badminton, lumba basikal dan memanah.

Perkara itu telah diumumkan oleh Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek selepas menyerahkan Skim Hadiah Kemenangan Sukan kepada dua atlet tersebut di Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) Bukit Jalil semalam.

Menurutnya, kehebatan dua atlet terjun itu mencatat kejayaan di peringkat antarabangsa membolehkan acara terjun turut tersenarai dalam program tersebut.

"Mereka mencatat kejayaan luar biasa di di Rome dan ia merupakan kejayaan sulung atlet terjun di kejohanan tersebut menyingkirkan atlet negara lain yang lebih hebat seperti Kanada, Australia, Jerman dan Rusia," katanya.

Jelasnya, program yang dijalankan khas buat atlet yang mempunyai potensi untuk menyinar di Sukan Olimpik 2012 London masih terbuka buat mana-mana jenis sukan yang menunjukkan kecemerlangan luar biasa.

"Kejayaan kelas pertama yang dicatatkan mereka ini membolehkan mereka turut diberi peluang menyertai program ini, jika sebelum ini hanya tiga jenis sukan tetapi kelahiran dua permata ini menjadikannya kepada empat jenis sukan.

"Saya berharap mereka akan terus menjalani latihan dengan tabah dan terus serasi walaupun baru digandingkan seterusnya dapat mencatat kejayaan cemerlang," katanya.

Mun Yee dan Pandalela memperoleh RM10,000 setiap seorang selepas memenangi pingat gangsa dalam acara 10 meter platform dan ia merupakan kejayaan kelas satu.

Bagi Mun Yee dia sangat gembira selepas mendengar pengumuman tersebut dan berazam akan cuba yang terbaik sepanjang latihan yang dijalankan walaupun ia dijangka berbeza dengan latihan sebelum ini.

"Saya akan mengharungi program ini seperti biasa dan memang saya tidak jangka mampu dapat mencatatkan kejayaan selepas ini.

"Saya masih belum pasti lagi latihan yang bakal dijalankan di bawah program ini tetapi saya tidak rasa terlalu tertekan," katanya.

Kata atlet berusia 24 tahun itu, walaupun baru digandingkan selama tiga bulan dia sudah merasakan keserasian bersama Pandelela.

Pandelela berkata, pada mula-mula dia berasa sedikit janggal bergandingan dengan Mun Yee yang lebih senior darinya tetapi lama-kelamaan ia tidak menjadi satu masalah lagi.

"Kami saling menegur antara satu sama lain, memandangkan Mun Yee juga sudah lama tidak beraksi dalam acara platform," katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
