Adiq diserap ke skuad elit

KECEMERLANGAN yang dipamerkan membolehkan Mohd Adiq Hussainie Othman diserapkan ke dalam skuad elit berbasikal negara yang bakal dipersiapkan untuk memburu pingat dalam saingan Sukan Olimpik London 2012.

Anak kelahiran Terengganu itu yang baru menjengah 18 tahun, akan dikirimkan Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), untuk berguru dengan John Beasley di Melbourne, Australia bersama dengan jaguh keirin dunia, Azizulhasni Awang dan Mohd Hafis Sofian.

Pengumuman itu dinyatakan Pengarah Cawangan Pelapis MSN, Jefri Ngadirin yang menegaskan pencapaian atlit berkenaan begitu memberangsangkan seperti yang ditunjukkan di Moscow dan Kalimantan baru-baru.

"Keputusan untuk menghantar Adiq ke Australia baru dibuat semalam (kelmarin) dan dia akan berlepas ke Melbourne dalam masa beberapa hari lagi selepas semua proses membabitkan kewangan dan tempat tinggal dibereskan," katanya.

Adiq mencatat sejarah membanggakan apabila meraih pingat gangsa dalam Kejohanan Remaja Dunia 2009 di Moscow, Russia selain meraih satu perak dan dua gangsa daripada lima acara di Kejohanan Berbasikal Asia (ACC) di Kalimantan, Indonesia minggu lalu.

Jefri berkata, tumpuan utama latihan di Australia adalah untuk menyiapkan pasukan untuk memburu tiket meraih emas pertama negara di Sukan Olimpik bagi menyahut cabaran yang disuarakan Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

"Selain Adiq, seorang lagi pelumba, Mohd Rizal Tisin, turut dijangka berlepas ke Australia pada minggu depan. Mereka akan menjalani latihan bersama bagi membuat persediaan menjelang siri kejuaraan dunia hujung Oktober ini," katanya.

Rizal yang dianggap Beasley sebagai jagoan dunia dalam pembikinan, sebelum ini berkata, beliau akan ke Australia sebagai persiapan menghadapi Siri Piala Dunia di Manchester, England pada 30 Oktober diikuti di Melbourne pada November dan Columbia pada Disember depan.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
