Bekas pengadil meninggal dunia

BEKAS pengadil Fifa, Kapten (B) Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid yang pernah menjadi pembantu pengadil sewaktu perlawanan Piala Dunia 1998 antara England dan Argentina meninggal dunia malam tadi.

Allahyarham, 47, menghembuskan nafas terakhirnya di Hospital Kangar kira-kira jam 9.20 malam tadi, dikatakan akibat komplikasi jantung dan sebelum ini dilaporkan menderita akibat keracunan pada tulang belakang.

Rakannya, Jaflus Musa yang juga bekas pengadil berkata, Halim pernah mengadu kepadanya mengenai kesakitan yang dialaminya sewaktu menghadiri kursus kejurulatihan di Ipoh baru-baru ini.

"Dia memaklumkan kepada saya bahawa dia menderita akibat keracunan tulang belakang dan pernah pengsan selain tidak mampu untuk berjalan," katanya.

Halim berkhidmat selaku pembantu pengadil pada Piala Dunia di Perancis pada 1998 dan bertindak selaku pembantu pengadil kepada Kim Milton Nielson yang memerintah Beckham dibuang padang selepas satu insiden dengan Diego Simeone di St Etienne.

Simeone kemudian mengaku dia menipu untuk mempengaruhi keputusan pengadil itu.

Allahyarham meninggalkan seorang balu, Wan Manirah Wan Mustafa dan empat anak, Nur Alya Haifa, Mohd Shah Iskandar, Nurul Aisya dan Hani Hilmi.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
