Malaysia claim three titles in Ipoh

MALAYSIA grabbed three of the five titles in the Proton Malaysia International Challenge badminton finals at Indera Mulia Stadium in Ipoh on Sunday.

In the all-Malaysia men's singles final, back-up player and top seed Chong Wei Feng beat Chan Kwong Beng 21-17, 21-14 in 36 minutes.

In the men's doubles, second seeds Lim Khim Wah-Chan Peng Soon grabbed the title when they outlasted Thailand's Isara Bodin-Jongjit Maneepong 22-20, 28-26.

Unseeded Tan Wee Kiong-Woon Khe Wei were taken to three games before beating compatriots Mak Hee Chun-Ng Hui Lin 21-6, 13-21, 21-17 to win the mixed doubles title.

Women doubles Woon Khe Wei-Chong Sook Chin, the top seeds, were beaten 21-18, 21-11 by unseeded Japanese pair Eto Rie-Wakita Yu in the final.

It was an all-Thailand affair in the women's singled final with eighth seed Taerattanachai Sapsiree beating Intanon Ratchanok 21-11, 19-21, 22-20 for the title.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
