Trofi Piala Dunia di Ibu Negara


EMPAT orang model tempatan bangga ketika mempamerkan trofi Piala Dunia di ibu negara semalam.


MALAYSIA akan menjadi perhatian peminat sukan bola sepak dunia apabila Trofi Piala Dunia FIFA tiba dari Jakarta dalam penerbangan sewa khas di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) semalam.

Kuala Lumpur menjadi bandar raya kelima Asia menerima kedatangan trofi teragung itu dalam siri jelajah sejauh 134, 017km merentasi lima benua dengan perjalanan bermula dari Ibu Pejabat Persekutuan Bola sepak Antarabangsa (FIFA) di Zurich, Switzerland, pada 21 September lalu.

Sebelum ini, trofi itu singgah untuk tatapan peminat bola sepak di benua Asia di Calcutta, India pada 17 Januari lalu diikuti Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam), 20 Januari, Bangkok (Thailand), 23 Januari dan Jakarta semalam.
Siri jelajah yang dibawakan khas oleh syarikat minuman terkenal Coco-Cola dengan kerjasama FIFA, adalah sebahagian daripada promosi Kejohanan Piala Dunia di Afrika Selatan.


Sempena menghangatkan Piala Dunia, trofi asli setinggi 36.8 sentimeter dan seberat 6.175 kilogram serta diperbuat daripada emas tulen 18 karat dengan dua lapisan batu pertama 'Malachite' pada bahagian dasar, akan dipamerkan untuk orang awam di Pusat Konvensyen Mid Valley di sini mulai hari ini dan esok.
"Kami amat bangga dengan sambutan setakat ini dan kami menjangka sambutan hangat dari peminat bola sepak di Malaysia," katanya jurucakap FIFA, Lingling Liu selepas ketibaan rombongan jelajah berkenaan di KLIA.
Katanya semasa jelajah itu, peminat berpeluang melihat piala asli itu secara dekat.
Sementara itu, Pengurus Besar Coca-Cola bagi Malaysia, Singapura dan Brunei Darrusalam, Antonio del Rosario berkata, kira-kira 10,000 peminat akan mendapat peluang keemasan dan jarang diperoleh seumur hidup untuk melihat dan merakamkan gambar bersama trofi itu.
Katanya, Jelajah Piala Dunia FIFA, yang dianjurkan bagi Piala Dunia kedua berturut-turut akan meliputi lebih ramai peminat dan bandar raya serta negara menerusi 225 perjalanan sebelum sampai ke Afrika Selatan pada 4 Mei ini.
"Peminat boleh mendapatkan tiket untuk melihat trofi itu dengan pembelian hidangan Burger Prosperity di restoran McDonald di Lembah Klang mulai sekarang dan juga dengan melawat gerai Coke di Mid Valley," katanya.
Pada 2006 sempena Piala Dunia di Jerman ketika itu, jelajah trofi itu telah singgah di 31 bandar raya dari 29 negara dengan perjalanan sejauh 102,570km.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
