Executive coaches for Azlan Shah Cup

IPOH-based express bus operator, Sri Maju Sarata Ekspres will sponsor five executive buses to transport players and officials taking part in the Azlan Shah Cup.

The tournament, being held in conjunction with Sultan Azlan Shah's recent birthday celebrations, will be held on May 6-16 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium.

Defending champions India, world champions Australia, African champions Egypt, Asian powerhouses South Korea, China, Pakistan and hosts Malaysia will compete in the tournament.

At the ceremony to unveil the logo at Dataran Ipoh yesterday, Perak Hockey Association (PHA) president Datuk Abdul Rahim Ariff said: "Another 22 buses plying the route between Ipoh and Singapore will also carry the competition's logo to create awareness among hockey fans all over the country."

The Sri Maju Sarata website will also carry the tournament's daily match schedule.

Rahim, who was accompanied by Sri Maju Sarata chairman Datuk Yeoh Tian Tei, said India will be the first team to arrive on Saturday and will play a practice match against a Malaysian junior side two days later.NST

Uber Cub: Malaysian squad Can Spring A Surprise - Ahmad Shabery

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek remains confident that the national Uber Cup squad can spring a surprise when Malaysia hosts the Thomas and Uber Cup finals at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil from May 9-16.
