KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Universities Sports Council (Masum) will be sending 235 athletes to compete in the 15th ASEAN Universities Games (AUG) in Chiangmai, Thailand from Dec 14-23.
Masum's chairman for athletes preparations Hamzah Ismail said Malaysia would take part in 15 of the 17 sports hosted.
"Malaysia will take part in athletics, badminton, football, volleyball (indoor & beach), sepak takraw, futsal, golf, taekwondo, karate-do, tenpin bowling, basketball, silat, table tennis and swimming," he told Bernama here today.
He added that Malaysia would not be participating in tennis and petanque.
The Games will see 10 ASEAN countries, including Timor Leste participating in Chiangmai while Malaysia's main competition would come from host Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, he said.
