KUALA LUMPUR, 24 Mac (Bernama) -- Malaysia Weightlifting Federation (MWF) will use the first National Weightlifting circuit in Selangor as a platform to identify lifters for the Asian Championships in Tongling, China from April 5-18.
MWF executive secretary Adzhar Derani said weightlifters can use the competition to assess their capabilities in their respective events and categories and earn a spot in the national squad.
"However, we will have to wait the end of the circuit to list down the potential weightlifters identified. Their performances in the Asian Championships will also help them earn their places for the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia," he told Bernama here Thursday.
The championships would comprise eight weight categories in the Men and seven weight categories in the women events.
The second circuit is expected to be held in Kuantan, Pahang in October.
