KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Datuk Lee Chong Wei's former coach Datuk Misbun Sidek has turned down an offer from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to return to the BAM fold.
BAM deputy president Tengku Kamil Ismail Tengku Idris Shah said Misbun's decision was unanimously accepted by the BAM council that met at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara here Thursday.
"Following Misbun's refusal to accept BAM's offer, he will not be part of the National coaching set up," he said.
Misbun who had joined BAM as head coach in 2002, and who later coached Chong Wei, shocked the entire nation by submitting his resignation letter to BAM just a day before his contract was to expire on Dec 31.
Subsequently, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, National Sports Council director-general Datuk Zolkples Embong and BAM president Datuk Nadzmi Salleh had met Misbun, urging him to return to the BAM fold.
