Indonesia Likely To Use Malaysian IT Expertise For SEA Games

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 (Bernama) -- Indonesia will likely be using Malaysian information technology (IT) expertise to register online the 10,000 odd athletes who will be competing in the 26th SEA Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang in November.

Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) honorary-secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi said a Malaysian IT company would be working together with the Indonesian SEA Games Organising Committee for the purpose.

"I have been told a Malaysian company has been selected to handle IT administration of the Games but an official agreement has not been signed between the two parties yet," he told Bernama here Monday.

In other developments, Sieh urged sports associations sending athletes to the Indonesian SEA Games under Category B to refund OCM's advance payments immediately after the Games are over.

Unlike Category A where the athletes are fully sponsored, NSAs (national sports associations) have to pay for the trips of Category B athletes and will only be reimbursed if the athletes win at least a silver medal.

However, cash strapped NSAs sending Category B athletes depend on OCM's advance payments to enable them to do so.
