All Tickets For Malaysia Cup Final To Be Sold At Flat Rate Of RM50

SHAH ALAM, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- All tickets for the 85th edition of Malaysia Cup final match between Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu at the Shah Alam Stadium this Saturday will be sold at a flat rate of RM50.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Local Competitions Committee chairman Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said the price was deemed apt as FAM had to bear several other costs concerning the final match, including payment for the stadium.

"We have also taken into consideration the capacity of the stadium which can facilitate the supporters from both teams. We have also looked into other options before fixing the ticket price," he told reporters after chairing the committee meeting here Monday.

Prior to this, tickets for Malaysia Cup final match held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium were priced at RM30 for free seating and RM50 for the grandstand.

Hamidin said supporters of both teams could start purchasing their tickets through their respective state football associations Tuesday.

"For the final match, each team will be given 15,000 tickets to be sold to their supporters.

"If the ticket sales received encouraging response from the supporters, FAM will give each team another 15,000 tickets," he said.

However, Hamidin said 5,000 tickets would be sold at the stadium starting at 9am on match day, while another 15,000 tickets would be allocated to sponsors and guests.

He said 2,000 security personnel, including policemen and members of People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) would be deployed to ensure safety during the match.

On the alleged poor condition of the field at the Shah Alam Stadium, Hamidin said Shah Alam Stadium Corporation had given assurance that the temporary rehabilitation of the field would be completed before the match day.

Ex-coach's jail sentence cut to a year

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal yesterday sentenced former athletics coach C. Ramanathan to 12 months' jail for molesting two junior athletes 19 years ago. A three-man bench led by Datuk Mohd Hishamudin Mohd Yunus unanimously dismissed Ramanathan's appeal against conviction, but varied the jail sentence of four years to a year, which was to run concurrently. Following yesterday's ruling, Ramanathan, 75, a former teacher, walked out a free man as he had served 10 months in Kajang Prison. Convicts get one-third remission for good behaviour while in prison. However, he will lose his pension. Hishamudin, who sat with Datuk Abdul Wahab Patail and Datuk Linton Albert, said the court found no merit to overturn the conviction. "However, in reducing the sentence, we considered Ramanathan's age and the long years the appeal has taken." Deputy public prosecutor Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud submitted that then High Court judge Tan Sri Abdull Hamid E...
