SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- The FA of Malaysia (FAM) is not
allowing club sides to compete in the President's Cup tournament from
2013 to 2016.
FAM vice-president Datuk Afandi Hamzah said this decision was made by FAM's Executive Council recently and was aimed at giving more opportunities to states to produce back up players for their respective teams.
"The President's Cup next season will be limited to 16 teams including two invited teams which are the Bukit Jalil and Bandar Penawar sports schools and will be played on the league format.
"Club sides, however, can still play in other tournaments like the Super League, Premier League and FAM League next season," he told a press conference after attending the 100Plus-Astro Arena-FAM national football awards ceremony here Tuesday.
