Temasya AUG 2012 buka tirai


MUN YEE membawa Jalur Gemilang ketika perarakan masuk kontinjen Malaysia pada majlis perasmian pembukaan AUG 2012 di Stadium Utama, Kompleks Sukan Nasional, Laos semalam.


VIENTIANE, Laos - Tirai temasya Sukan Universiti ASEAN (AUG) 2012 disingkap secara rasmi semalam.

Upacara perasmian penuh berwarna-warni itu berlangsung di Stadium Utama, Kompleks Sukan Nasional, Laos. Majlis perasmian disempurnakan oleh Perdana Menteri Laos, Thongsing Thammavong.

Upacara perasmian bermula dengan perarakan masuk semua 11 kontinjen negara yang bertanding pada temasya edisi ke-16 kali ini.

Seperti dijadualkan, Malaysia menjadi kontinjen keempat yang memasuki pekarangan stadium yang mempunyai kapasiti 25,000 tempat duduk itu.

Ketua Kontinjen Malaysia ke AUG 2012, Prof. Dr. Yahaya Ibrahim mengetuai perbarisan 220 atlet dan pegawai yang memasuki stadium.

Atlet terjun wanita negara, Leong Mun Yee pula diberi penghormatan membawa Jalur Gemilang buat kontinjen Malaysia.

Kontinjen Malaysia merupakan antara 2,500 atlet dari 11 negara anggota ASEAN yang menyertai temasya AUG kali ini.

Upacara menaikkan bendera AUG dijalankan sebelum Thammavong membacakan pengisytiharan perasmian temasya edisi ke-16 itu, diikuti ucapara menyalakan obor.

Ia disusuli dengan persembahan nyanyian serta kesenian dan kebudayaan rakyat Laos.
Antaranya ialah nyanyian Chorus Song serta tarian Little Bees Dance, Healthy and Lively Athletes, Great minds and Spirit in Sports dan persembahan khas untuk temasya AUG kali ini.

Upacara perasmian diakhiri dengan pertunjukan bunga api sebagai simbolik bermulanya temasya AUG kali ini.

Serentak dengan itu juga, maka bermulalah perjuangan barisan atlet negara dalam misi memburu keseluruhan 245 pingat emas yang ditawarkan.

Seramai 306 atlet negara yang beraksi dalam 17 acara sukan telah diberi tanggungjawab dalam mencapai sasaran 36 pingat emas.

Acara olahraga, akuatik (renang dan terjun) serta memanah menjadi taruhan kontinjen Malaysia untuk membawa pulang seberapa banyak pingat emas pada temasya AUG kali ini.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach. "After listening to the recording of the post-match press conference, we decided to drop the charge against Rajagopal as he did not make such a statement.
