Kejohanan Terbuka Petanque Medan Penilaian PPM Untuk Atlet Negara Ke Sukan SEA

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 Mac (Bernama) -- Kejohanan Petanque Terbuka di Miri, Sarawak, awal bulan depan akan menjadi medan Persatuan Petanque Malaysia (PPM), menilai prestasi atlet sedia ada untuk dipilih mewakili negara ke Sukan SEA Myanmar pada 11 hingga 22 Dis depan.

"Kebanyakan atlet daripada mereka yang berkerja dan bukanya atlet sepenuh masa. Setakat ini PPM sudah mengenal pasti 30 atlet, 15 lelaki dan 15 wanita.

"Bagaimanapun, kesemua mereka bukanlah senarai mutakhir atlet yang akan kita bawa ke Myanmar," kata Setiausaha Kehormat PPM, Shaari Shamsudin kepada Bernama.

Shaari berkata kebanyakan atlet yang sudah dikenal pasti itu dipilih berdasarkan prestasi mereka di Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) Pahang tahun lepas.

Menurutnya, PPM akan menggunakan Kejohanan Petanque Terbuka Miri untuk terus menilai kemampuan dan prestasi mereka.

"Selepas kejohanan itu, kita akan memanggil semula mereka untuk menjalani latihan pusat di Kompleks Sukan MSN Keramat. Bagaimanapun, jumlah berapa orang atlet yang akan dipanggil itu belum ditentukan lagi," katanya.

Mengenai sasaran pingat di Sukan SEA nanti, Shaari berkata PPM masih belum menetapkan apa-apa matlamat kerana merasakan ia masih terlalu awal.

"Saya yakin skuad petanque mampu membawa pulang pingat yang lebih baik daripada temasya sebelum ini," katanya.

Pada temasya Sukan SEA di Indonesia dua tahun lepas, skuad petanque negara meraih tiga pingat gangsa menerusi acara individu lelaki, individu wanita dan 'shooting' lelaki.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
