PUTRAJAYA, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The synchronised diving event which
will be featured at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland
could be a medal prospect for Malaysia, said Youth and Sports Minister
Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said Malaysia had a good chance of clinching at least a medal in the event through Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee.
"I understand synchronised diving will be competed at the Commonwealth Games next year...except synchronised swimming," he told reporters at his office in Putrajaya here Wednesday.
Khairy was commenting on allegations that the Commonwealth Games host would not be holding synchronised diving event in the games next year.
Meanwhile, when met at an incentive presentation ceremony, Pandelela said the host country would be missing a medal opportunity if synchronised diving was dropped from the games as Scottish divers were strong challengers in the 15th FINA World Swimming championship in Barcelona recently.
Pandelela and Mun Yee received RM5,000 each from Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the Education Ministry Aidilfitri gathering in Putrajaya today.
