Fatehah cemerlang, rangkul perak di Mexico


Kuala Lumpur: Pelumba trek Yayasan Sime Darby, Fatehah Mustapa mempamerkan persembahan mengagumkan untuk meraih pingat perak dalam acara keirin di siri ketiga Piala Dunia UCI yang berlangsung di Guadalajara, Mexico semalam.

Ia membolehkan atlet kelahiran Terengganu berusia 24 tahun itu melakar sejarah tersendiri menjadi pelumba wanita pertama negara meraih pingat pada kejohanan berkenaan dan ia juga adalah pingat pertamanya sejak mula beraksi pada 2007 di Piala Dunia UCI.

Saingan membabitkan enam pelumba itu berlangsung sengit dengan pelumba sensasi Hong Kong, Lee Wai Sze berjaya meraih emas dengan Fatehah hanya ketinggalan 0.017 saat disusuli Sandie Clair dari Perancis.

“Sudah banyak kali saya melangkah ke final keirin, namun gagal meraih pingat, namun kali ini saya sangat gembira kerana berjaya melakukannya. Ia satu pencapaian yang membanggakan dengan sasaran selepas ini adalah Kejohanan Trek Dunia di Columbia bulan depan.

“Saya tidak mengira kilauan pingat di Kejohanan Trek Dunia nanti dengan fokus kini adalah menjalani latihan dengan bersungguh-sungguh dalam tempoh masa yang ada,” katanya yang turut memberikan pujian kepada Sime Darby, Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Institut Sukan Negara (ISN) serta ketua jurulatih negara, John Beasley yang meningkatkan prestasinya.

Kejayaan ini sedikit sebanyak mengubat kekecewaan rakan sepasukannya, Azizulhasni Awang yang dibatalkan penyertaannya dalam final keirin kelmarin.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach. "After listening to the recording of the post-match press conference, we decided to drop the charge against Rajagopal as he did not make such a statement.
