KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Weightlifters Association (PABM) is optimistic that the national squad will win at least four gold medals at the Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland beginning July 23.
PABM president Datuk Ong Poh Eng said the 12 athletes, including four women weightlifters selected to represent the country at the meet, hopefully would give their best performance.
Ong, who is also president of the Penang Amateur Weightlifters Association, said the national athletes were now actively undergoing intensive training in Indonesia under three different coaches namely Wang Zhi Quan from China, Stefan Stefanov (Bulgaria) and Lockman (Indonesia).
"After the training in Indonesia, they will return to Malaysia on July 13 before leaving for Glasgow together with the national contingent four days later," he told BERNAMA, Friday.
