Chong Wei Julang Gelaran Kelima Terbuka Jepun


KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Jun (Bernama) -- Pemain perseorangan lelaki nombor satu dunia Datuk Lee Chong Wei mencatatkan kemenangan manis apabila menjulang gelaran Kejohanan Badminton Siri Super Terbuka Jepun untuk kali kelima.

Dalam perlawanan akhir yang berlangsung di Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium di Tokyo, Jepun hari ini, juara bertahan berusia 31 tahun itu hanya mengambil masa 34 minit untuk menumpaskan pemain pilihan kelapan Hu Yun dari Hong Kong dengan 21-14 dan 21-12 dalam perlawanan yang disiarkan secara langsung oleh stesen televisyen swasta tempatan.

Chong Wei meraih US$18,750 (RM60,346) bagi kemenangannya itu manakala Hu Yun membawa pulang US$9,500 (RM30,575) sebagai naib juara.

Untuk rekod, Chong Wei sebelum ini memenangi gelaran Terbuka Jepun sebanyak empat kali -- 2007,2010, 2012 dan 2013.

Keputusan itu juga membolehkan Chong Wei menduduki tangga teratas dalam ranking Siri Super Dunia Destinasi Dubai, Persekutuan Badminton Dunia (BWF).

Dubai, ibu negara Emiriyah Arab Bersatu (UAE) akan menjadi tuan rumah Final Siri Super Dunia pada Disember tahun ini selepas syarikat penerbangan kebangsaan negara itu, Emirates menandatangani perjanjian tiga tahun dengan BWF awal tahun ini.

Sepuluh pemain terbaik dalam setiap daripada lima kategori akan bersaing pada Final Siri Super Dunia BWF yang akan diadakan di Kompleks Sukan Hamdan di Dubai, bermula tahun ini hingga 2017.

Kategori berkenaan adalah perseorangan lelaki dan wanita, beregu lelaki dan wanita dan, beregu campuran.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
