KATRINA
Ann Hadi and Tasha Jane Taher Ali won Malaysia's first gold medal in
the Southeast Asian Synchronised Swimming Championships in Singapore
yesterday.
Pairing up for the first time, they came out tops in the duet technical routine at the newly-built Aquatic Centre of Singapore's Sports Hub.
Katrina and Tasha’s score of 73.59 points saw them edge Singapore into second spot.
Tasha said: “It's awesome. It's a good feeling considering we've only got the opportunity to train intensely in the last four months.”
In the team technical routine category, Malaysia's eight members won the silver with Singapore getting the gold.
Katrina, who completed the usual procedural doping tests, said she and her team cannot rest on their laurels.
“We cannot take these achievements for granted. We need to get good sleep for proper recovery.”
