Khairy to meet Chong Wei today?

LEE Chong Wei, who is alleged to have failed a doping test, will return from abroad today and meet Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin to discuss when he will leave for Norway to witness the testing of his B sample.

Khairy said he expects to meet the athlete in question to discuss the matter either today or tomorrow. The test will be done in Oslo on either Nov 4 or 5.

He is likely to be accompanied to Norway by National Sports Institute (NSI) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Ramlan Aziz or Malaysian Anti Doping Agency (Adamas) unit head Nishel Kumar.

“From what I understand, the athlete is coming back tomorrow (today) and I will meet with him to make a decision (on when to leave for Norway),” said Khairy.

“Nishel and Dr Ramlan are the people likely to accompany the athlete to open the sample but at the moment it looks like only Dr Ramlan will go.”
Chong Wei is believed to be on holiday now in Europe.

Khairy also commended Badminton Association of Malaysia’s efforts to set up a working committee with the sports ministry to investigate the doping case.

“With a working committee, we will get to know in more detail what happened (to the athlete).
“If the B sample tests negative, then there is no problem but if it does test positive, we can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports.

“If we do, we will need information from the working committees. BAM knows a lot about the athlete.”

In addition to the BAM-sports ministry committee, a separate committee comprising Adamas and the NSI are also investigating the case. Chong Wei is alleged to have failed a doping test (involving dexamethasone) at the World Championships in August.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
