KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The Olympic Council of Malaysia
(OCM) has appointed Badminton Association of Malaysia's (BAM) deputy
president Datuk Mohamad Norza Zakaria as the chef-de-mission (CDM) for
the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.
Mohamad Norza said he would be assisted by two deputy CDMs, namely Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) vice president Dr S Shamala and a yet to be named individual.
The appointment of Mohamad Norza was made during the SEA Games managers meeting that was attended by 35 managers from various sports.
"The appointment is a very challenging prospect because the performance of the Malaysian contingents at two major games - Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Incheon Asian Games - has not been satisfactory," he told reporters after the meeting at Wisma OCM, today.
Norza said Malaysia would be taking part in 35 of the 36 sports hosted by Singapore, with the exception of traditional boat race.
He added that karate which has been Malaysia's regular contributor of medals, would not be among the sports contested.
Malaysia will be hoping to do better than the 43 gold, 38 silver, 77 bronze medals won at the Myanmar SEA Games in 2013.
