Kim Swee Asked To Prepare Solid Team For Singapore SEA Games

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Harimau Muda A coach, Datuk Ong Kim Swee has been asked to prepare a solid team for the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.

FA of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president, Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah said Kim Swee must get cracking as soon as the next season of the M-League begins on Jan 31.

"Harima Muda A (Under-23 squad) are expected to commence centralised training from May 1 because the Singapore SEA Games is scheduled to be held in June," he told reporters after attending a special meeting of FAM's Executive Committee here Friday.

Afandi also said the coach Razip Ismail would be responsible for Harimau Muda B (National Under-22 squad) which will be competing in the Asian Under-22 Cup.

He said after the Asian Under-22 Cup, the Harimau Muda B will be in action in the Singapore League (S-League).

"So Kim Swee will not be burdened with two teams (Harimau Muda A and Harimau Muda B). This will free him to prepare the squad needed for the SEA Games," he added.

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal yesterday sentenced former athletics coach C. Ramanathan to 12 months' jail for molesting two junior athletes 19 years ago. A three-man bench led by Datuk Mohd Hishamudin Mohd Yunus unanimously dismissed Ramanathan's appeal against conviction, but varied the jail sentence of four years to a year, which was to run concurrently. Following yesterday's ruling, Ramanathan, 75, a former teacher, walked out a free man as he had served 10 months in Kajang Prison. Convicts get one-third remission for good behaviour while in prison. However, he will lose his pension. Hishamudin, who sat with Datuk Abdul Wahab Patail and Datuk Linton Albert, said the court found no merit to overturn the conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud submitted that then High Court judge Tan Sri Abdull Hamid E...
