KUALA LUMPUR – Misi Chong Wei Feng untuk memburu tiket ke Sukan Olimpik 2016 di Rio sedikit terjejas apabila perseorangan badminton No. 2 negara itu mungkin terpaksa berehat panjang selepas disahkan mengalami kecederaan di bahagian pangkal paha.

Hasil ujian Pengimejan Resonans Magnetik (MRI) di Institut Sukan Negara (ISN) semalam mendapati, pangkal paha kiri pemain kelahiran Alor Setar berusia 27 tahun itu terkoyak sepanjang 2.5 sentimeter.

Wei Feng bagaimanapun masih berharap ada ‘jalan keluar’ yang boleh menyelamatkan usahanya untuk ke Sukan Olimpik iaitu de­ngan menjalani rawatan fisioterapi, selain berehat.

Dia bagaimanapun lega kerana kecederaan tersebut tidak memerlukan pembedahan, sebaliknya Wei Feng hanya perlu mengambil suntikan khusus bagi mempercepatkan proses pemulihan.
“Selepas ini saya akan dapatkan pandangan doktor untuk buat keputusan berapa lama saya perlu berehat.

“Berita baiknya, kecederaan yang saya alami tidak memerlukan pembedahan dan saya hanya perlu melakukan proses pemulihan menerusi fisioterapi,” katanya kepada Utusan Malaysia.
Wei Feng mengalami kece­deraan tersebut ketika menyertai Grand Prix Emas Terbuka India minggu lalu.

Dia tidak dapat meneruskan perlawanan ketika menentang pilihan pertama dari India, K. Srikanth di Stadium Tertutup Babu Banarasi Das di Lucknow setelah merasa sakit di paha kiri di set kedua.
Malah, sebelum kejohanan lagi Wei Feng sudah dihimpit masalah hamstring sewaktu bertanding dalam Grand Prix Emas Malaysia Masters.

Tempoh untuk mengutip mata kelayakan ke Sukan Olimpik 2016 akan bermula pada Mac ini, de­ngan kejohanan Siri Super Premier All England yang berlangsung dari 3-8 Mac adalah pentas pertama untuk merebut mata.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
