KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Double Tour de France winners Team
Sky will top the list of participating world teams at the 20th Le Tour
de Langkawi (LTdL) in March.
Team Sky will be coming here along with returning Orica-GreenEdge, Astana and Tinkoff-Saxo.
"These are four of the five best teams in the world," said Datuk Malik Mydin, the chief executive officer of the 2015 LTdL.
"We're talking about teams who have won three Tour de France, one Giro d'Italia and two Vuelta a Espana in the last three years.
"Its a huge honour to have them race in Malaysia. Their faith in our organisation is very much appreciated," he said in a statement Tuesday.
The others are seven Pro Continental teams, 11 continental teams, comprising Asian countries and emerging cycling countries with close ties with Malaysia.
Organised by Human Voyage Sdn Bhd, the event from March 8 to 15 is set to cover more than 1,000 km over eight stages.
Bradley Wiggins won the Tour de France for Team Sky in 2012 while Chris Froome did the same in 2013.
