Hoki: Malaysia perlu kekal konsistensi jika mahu ke Rio de Janeiro - Khairy

PUTRAJAYA, 14 April (Bernama) -- Menteri Belia dan Sukan Khairy Jamaluddin mahu skuad hoki negara mengekalkan konsistensi bagi memastikan hasrat mereka layak beraksi pada Sukan Olimpik 2016 di Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, menjadi kenyataan.

Beliau berkata Konfederasi Hoki Malaysia (MHC) perlu melihat kepada konsistensi, selepas skuad Malaysia berada pada kedudukan tercorot edisi ke-24 Kejohanan Hoki Piala Sultan Azlan Shah, yang berakhir Ahad lepas.

Malaysia tumpas 1-3 kepada Kanada menerusi penentuan pukulan penalti selepas terikat 4-4, pada aksi tempat kelima dan keenam.

"Kita anggap kekalahan ini satu pengajaran...sekali lagi...tetapi amat penting bagi MHC untuk melihat semula konsistensi pasukan kita. Sudah pasti kita rasa kecewa dengan prestasi baru-baru ini, memang saya nampak hoki ada masalah mengekalkan konsistensi.

"Sebelum ini, kita lihat prestasi yang baik pada Hoki Liga Dunia pusingan kedua di Singapura tetapi bila beraksi pada Piala Sultan Azlan Shah, Malaysia menerima saingan lebih hebat menyebabkan kita tewas," katanya selepas merasmikan pra-pelancaran Larian Pekerja Muda 9to5 di Menara KBS, di sini hari ini.

Khairy berkata pasukan kebangsaan tidak dapat mempamerkan aksi yang baik pada kejohanan itu disebabkan ranking pihak lawan yang lebih tinggi.

New Zealand muncul juara edisi ke-24 apabila menumpaskan juara bertahan, Australia 3-1 melalui penentuan penalti di Stadium Hoki Sultan Azlan Shah, Ipoh, Perak.

India meraih kedudukan ketiga, manakala Korea Selatan dan Kanada, masing-masing di tempat keempat dan kelima.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

KUALA TERENGGANU, May 29 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badaw i said the government always gives emphasis on cultivating a strong sporting culture in achieving excellence at the international level. Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
